Manning Marable, Acclaimed Scholar & Activist, Has Died at 60
This is a terrible and terribly premature loss, but Dr Marable’s lifelong commitment to black liberation, scholarship and social justice will not be forgotten or dishonored by neglect. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and friends, and everyone who has been touched by his work.
His long-awaited book, Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention, will be released Monday, April 4, 2011 (Viking). Dr Marable worked on this book for over a decade.

A public memorial is scheduled for May 26 at Columbia University.
